This will probably last for a couple of lessons as there are video clips to view and an analysis of the plight of the orangutans . Students work in groups to develop a campaign to save the orangutans . Students can be shown examples of real campaigns such as those to save the Sumatran rainforest by the RSPB. Students need to understand that a good campaign has to identify the causes of the problem and the solutions. Both of these aspects need to be contained in materials produced by the students .

This series of lessons was used by Year 8 students who had completed a few lessons about drugs and peer pressure in year 7 . In year 8 they built on this by carrying out their own research about drugs in french and designed a board game based on it . They used the theory of multiple intelligences which they acessed through an interactive quiz and then applied the learning to a board game . There is also the opportunity to discuss employment opportunities linked to multiple intelligences .There are key words links to playing the board game and self and peer assessment in French .

This lesson looks at the lead up to the decision to leave the EU and looks at the possible implications of Brexit

Start with the concept of what a symbol is , then follow up with the activity where students identify the symbols . They can write the answers into the handbook. There is a video of this activity happening in a French Geog lesson in the resource in the pedagogy section of my shop. It is a video from Chenderit school. The cards for the card sort and bingo symbols cards are within the powerpoint . So they can be printed off.

This lesson involves setting up the classroom with products which involve purchasing choices . For example washing up liquid which is environmentally friendly and that which is not. Different types of Tuna , line caught and others, fair trade chocolate , organic chocolate , supermarket basic brand . There is a form in the student handbook which can be used . Students go around the product and note the price (see page 84 of the student handbook) Students add up the prices of a fair trade , environmentally friendly products and those that are neither.They are given a budget and decide which products to buy There are powerpoints about fair trade to explain how it works. Students then justify the choices of product that they have decided to buy. There is an example of student writing

Scale is difficult conceptually. That is why students start by drawing a bird’s eye view of a bedroom . They then use OS maps and look at who may use each scale of map .

This is the first of four to five lessons which explore characteristics of relationships. This lesson identifies types of relationships and then looks at whether they are positive or negative . These lessons were used by Year 8 students who were taught for an hour a week.

Peer pressure in realtion to alcohol

There is a large amount of preparation , to present arguments for and against drilling for ol in Alaska. there are video clips and personal statements. Then students prepare a radio broadcast in role.

This lesson looks at the use of fossil fuels and their pros and cons . Read the copyright document and the section on energy before you start.

This handbook was printed out and given to students to support them with their learning. they could write in it and use it for reference .

This is a series of lessons which take Year 7 students through protective behaviours which will help them to identify signs when they need help and who to seek help from. The year 7 course was run for a one hour lesson each week in French. SEAL themes were also used in German tutorial time each day in year 7 and a description is given here of what happened. Protective behaviours looks at identifying what risks there are, how to recognise your feelings and who to seek help from

Students first learn about the types of climate tp affect France and then produce their own weather forecast using the powerpoint slides of weather conditions to identify temp.rainfall , wind direction but also which weather systems are dominating ie anticyclones or depressions. They write the French onto the blank powerpoint slides and then can present the forecast to the class.

This part shows the alternative powerpoint for the exercise with the cards . There is some exemplar work from students which shows what they can do with the information once they have linked it to the photos ie produce an information leaflet on the climate of Reunion island.

Lesson 2 of unit on weather and climate. This is an introduction to all of the instruments used to measure the weather. Students have to create a game.
